U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. David G. Bellon, outgoing commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South, relinquished command to Lt. Gen. Leonard F. Anderson IV at Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans and held a retirement ceremony at The National WWII Museum, New Orleans, March 21, 2024. Bellon commanded more than 90,000 Reserve Marines since taking command of MARFORRES in 2019. He took command of MARFORSOUTH in 2022. Cpl. Roland Scarinci's 100th Birthday

Marine Veteran, Cpl. Roland Scarinci, celebrates his birthday with family and friends at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 in Philadelphia, PA, Feb. 18, 2023. Scarinci turned 100 years old Feb. 18, 2023. During this celebration Scarinci was honored with a letter of appreciation for his service signed by Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger. He served the United States Marine Corps honorably during WWII from Dec. 14, 1942, to Feb. 19, 1946. He was stationed at Marine Barracks Washington "8th & I" and later deployed to the Pacific Theater with the 1st Marine Division where he engaged in the Battle of Okinawa and the occupation of China. Retired 1st Lt. John J. O'Leary, a Marine veteran of World War II, celebrated his 100th birthday Dec. 23, 2016. O'Leary fought on Guam and witnessed the bombardment of Iwo Jima as a member of 3rd Joint Assault Signal Company.

Training Center Dedicated to Medal of Honor Recipient, Reserve Marine

The newest West Virginia National Guard training center was dedic ated to Hershel "Woody" Williams in Fairmont, W. Va. Oct. 18. Williams was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1945 for his actions on Iwo Jima. Since retiring from the Marine Corps Reserve in 1969, Woody has been a staunch advocate for veterans' rights and benefits around the country. Also available in high definition.
